I’ll help you locate and assess properties that match your wish-list, and get you prepped before meeting with sellers to ensure that you’re getting off on the right foot.


I’m always up to date with the current houses on the market and I know neighborhood values well. This allows me to determine which properties are fairly priced and in good condition before even visiting them in person. 


Your First Step


The first step in buying a home is to ask yourself, why. Are you looking because you want to stop paying rent? To start building equity? To have a place of your own? To raise a family? To move into a bigger home? 


Start by listing what kind of home you’d like and where you’d like it to be. Get specific. Separate the “must haves” from the “want to haves”. 


Think of yourself as zeroing in on a target, going from the general to the specific. Take into consideration the area (city, country, suburbs), community, neighbourhood (older and settled or brand new; a particular school zone; community services; transportation access; entertainment). Ask yourself how long of a commute you are willing to make to work each day.


Consider home styles. How much space do you need? Does your situation require a one-level home, or are stairs manageable? Factor in size and the kind of property you’re looking for. Do you want a newer home, or an older one to fix up? Someday, you, or an inheritor will want to sell. How long do you think you’ll want to live in this particular home?


Your Next Step: Loan Pre-Qualification


After you’ve landed on exactly what you’re looking for, the next step in the purchasing process is to get pre-qualified with a mortgage company. This can be done over the phone or even online in a matter of minutes. 


Different buyers have different needs when it comes to mortgaging. I can point you in the direction of an experienced broker who can deliver the services that will help you along your home buying experience.
